2.       Identify the major steps required to accomplish technological goals.
Strategic planning is more systematic and provides a detail plan. By following the steps layout you will produce a successful technology plan (Microsoft, 2012). After referring back to CSTE5337, you must assess the technological needs.  We must determine the technology goals (long term) and technology objectives (short term) for the plan. You must identify the vision and objectives.   We must lay the foundations for the steps to follow.  After identifying our goals and objectives, we must develop a comprehensive set of requirements by describing the scope of the accessibility needs. The next step involves the design and development of technology based on the requirements. The next step would be to implement and train on the technology. We must then come up with ways or avenues to deliver these activities. We then must develop an assessment tool to test the activities.  Once the assessment has been given and revised, we must implement the goal or objective (Dick, Carey, 2001).
Listed below are the goals and objectives for the Beaumont ISD (Thomas, Harris, et.al., 2010).

  1. Tanya,

You have great objectives. I enjoy reading other posts and considering other objectives and ways to push Fairfield ISD to a 21st Century Technology District. Like many of us, your district needs grants to supplement funding. Do you have a grant writing team? Have you considered any other methods of funding. I know we have a few private donors. Has your district had any? One site I mentioned in an earlier week post is www.donorchoose.org. Some of our teachers have had great success using this site. Great Job. ~Carol

    1. Carol,
Yes, we have staff that work together as a grant writing team. Yes, we are open to all methods of funding. Each school is partnered with area companies and they make donations.

  2. Tanya,

Your objective that included addressing the needs of the community and parents with the use of technology is a very powerful sub-objective. I was reading very carefully and this popped out at me. I couldn't help but think of the impact this could have on students when their parents see the importance of the use of technology and have the opportunity to educate themselves as well as their children. Excellent job in adding this to your goal expectations.

  3. Tanya,

It is wonderful that you have access to your districts plan to use for this assignment. This gives you a clear picture of what is needed vs. what is actually happening in the classrooms. I like your objective 4.3. So many students destroy school property and are not held accountable for their actions. To have security cameras in place with motion sensors when labs are not in use and after hours will help cut down on misuse and theft.

  4. Tanya, Goal 4 should be under funding, but none of the goals and objectivew are related to budget and funding. Please rework on the funding part.

Also, please provide your responses to the reviewers. Thanks!
